Within the Australian Labradoodle there is one thing that is very important and that is genetics. If you are going to buy an Australian cobberdog, you have to know a little bit about it. Something essential to ensure that Australian Labradoodles remain as wonderful as they are, both in terms of beauty and, above all, health. Having a good control of inbreeding and breed purity makes all the difference, and genetic tests are our best friends.
Before I start explaining, our Australian Labradoodle are all real Labradoodle, their grandparents, great-grandparents etc are already Australian Labradoodle or Australian Cobberdog. This is very important because we are talking about a pure and standardized breed. The crosses of golden or Labrador retriever and poodle are also Labradoodle but they are hybridizations not a pure breed. To be honest it is not bad that they are hybridizations, if the crossbreeding is well done with well chosen parents and a correct genetic control it is also excellent. The great advantage of the pure breed or infinite F is that we are not talking about a crossbreed but a breed as such. On the other hand, the F1, the hybrids are a mixture, which is excellent but still a crossbreed. For example in terms of hair loss is less in a pure breed than in an F1, the same with respect to hair, it is more homogeneous in a pure breed. In fact, F1s are necessary, because the best F1s are incorporated every ten generations to the pure breed, bringing new genes to the breed.
We explain in detail, because adopting an Australian Labradoodle is an important decision and information is power. There are two types of Labradoodle: The Australian Labradoodle of breed, that is to say the pure breed, which are the ones that have more than 10 generations of Labradoodle lineage, which are the ones we breed in Labradoodle Maravilla; and the F1, that is to say sons of daddy poodle and mommy golden or Labrador. Let's remember that in a person, in a dog or in any animal only 50% of the genetic information is manifested. In a Labradoodle pure breed F infinite the genes of poodle and golden or Labrador have already formed a Labradoodle gene because after so many generations of recombination we already have a pure breed dog. It is like the German Shepherd, once a crossbreed a hundred years ago, now it is a breed. On the other hand, in the Labradoodle F1 there are poodle genes and golden or Labrador genes, we do not know which ones will express more, in fact this explains the disparity in adult hair, face shape...
The Labradoodle F infinita, i.e. the pure Labradoodle come from several generations and are very similar to each other, because the genes are Australian Labradoodle. Genetically an F1 and an F infinite are very similar, but in the F infinite the chromosomes of the poodle and the golden or Labrador have already fused and recombined so many times that they have created a line that has no chance, but we know how it will be in adulthood. An F1 can be flatter or have a longer nose, look more like a poodle or a golden, but an infinite F will be like its parents, so when it comes to knowing what to expect it is much more predictable. In fact if you Google Labradoodle pictures you will see a great disparity: The main reason is F1 but also F1B F2BB subcrosses, and that is to cross a Labradoodle with a poodle or a golden.
Another reason is the crossing of moms and dads that do not meet the ideal standards, or it can also occur by crossing dads that are not of breed, for example a poodle that has genes from another breed in its line is a very bad Labradoodle parent. In the end that is why we are so focused on the genetic issue. We do not criticize at all the people who breed F1, which is how the breed started, but when we talk about F infinite or Australian Labradoodle or Australian Cobberdog purebred, we know what is going to be born and with what characteristics. In the end, the F infinita have been born from the F1 that had the best characteristics, and it has been defining a breed as such, which is no longer a crossbreed as it was originally, but a breed in itself.
By the way, nobody should think that crossing breeds with a well founded objective of getting a new pure breed is a modern invention, almost all the breeds we know come from crossbreeding, all types of shepherds: German, Australian, Belgian, Bergamo, the border collie itself... but also the hunting breeds, the Weimar, Italian, German, etc. We have assimilated them as pure breeds but they are all originated in the last century. In the case of the Labradoodle we have a poodle daddy and a golden or Labrador mommy.
As we have already mentioned, good genetics in an Australian Labradoodle and in fact in any dog is fundamental. It prevents diseases, avoids problems... the health of our dog is undoubtedly a must. We continue bringing dogs from all over the world, now we have reached an agreement with two centers in Canada, because they want the same as us: external blood to their Kennell to avoid inbreeding and we are in a project of exchange of males that is giving us the possibility of having lines with a very high level of excellence despite being in Europe where the Labradoodle breeding has not yet spread.
